Rough Weekend and Tubes Day

Well everyone, just a quick post to ask for your thoughts and prayers as Jobi gets his tubes in his ears tomorrow morning. We don't know yet exactly what time we'll have the procedure but last they told us was probably 6:30 a.m. which is fine by us considering he can't eat or drink anything after midnight. I know things will go well and hopefully this will take care of our chronic ear infections!!

Just an update... we've had actually more problems going on this past weekend. Friday, Jobi woke up at 4 a.m. throwing up so obviously, he stayed home from daycare with Nana and Papa. He was doing OK until later that night I came home from Christmas program practice and Chris told me he had been very restless and had started itching. He was literally clawing himself to death, poor baby!!! He raised up from his restless slumber and we discovered that his face, neck, and hands were swollen and eyes had swollen shut! As we were hurriedly packing to head to the ER, he began projectile vomiting - I was SCARED OUT OF MY MIND! We didn't even put him in the car seat, I held him all the way to the hospital. He had been on antibiotic for his ear infections - this was the second time he had taken this particular medicine and we were on the NINTH day of the 10 days of it when the ER doc decides it has to be an allergic reaction he's had to it. Apparently, now after talking to several medical personnel, it will take anywhere from 7-10 days for a reaction to occur. So there we are..... "allergy to Penicillin." They gave him a shot of Epinephrine and he screamed and screamed for 1/2 hour or so until he finally fell asleep. WHEW. They put him on steroids for 5 days and told us to follow up with our Pediatrician which we did the very next a.m. Dr. Burks said since he was running fever along with the vomiting, he would guess it was also a viral infection, not just the allergic reaction alone. But he has to document the "penicillin allergy"just in case - for future alerts.

Early Sunday morning, Chris wakes up throwing up.... of course. Just our luck! Nothing worse than trying to play single parent or dealing with a sick baby AND sick spouse! Especially during the busy holiday season...

Now finally after four days of illness, everyone seems to be on the "up and up." Thank you LORD! We are experiencing some tummy issues with Jobi due to the steroids, but thank goodness we have only one more day of that then hopefully we can stay well for a while and enjoy a very MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! :)
