Lisa's Baby Shower

(this is Jean Anne again) My cousin, Lisa and her husband Justin (who live in Texas) are also expecting their first baby! She is 7 months pregnant - due in July. It's a girl! Addyson ("Addy") Taylor Holcomb. Lisa is the cutest little thing... just looks like she swallowed a basketball is all! Her college friends threw her a shower in Jackson this weekend and my mom and I were able to attend. We were so happy to see and spend time with Lisa and my Aunt Linda. She got LOTS of nice things and has given me some great tips and pointers so far!

Lisa said we just had to take "belly pics" to compare (see first pic). The second picture is my mom, me, Lisa, and Aunt Linda. We wouldn't have missed seeing them for the world. We had a great time. Won't be long now, Lisa!! Good luck - can't wait to meet Addy! :-)

3rd Appointment - New Digs

We had our third appointment today. The Hattiesburg Clinic has made the transition to the new "28th Place" women's center. Let me tell you, this place rivals the Beau Rivage and is just about as big. No more waiting rooms now they are called "alcoves". This place is so big, the workers there wear pedometers so they can see how many miles they walk in a day....no kidding....my sister works there. I was told not to hold my breath for a men's center but I could only imagine what it may look like and what it may include! Visions of a cross between Hooter's, "The Rock", The End Zone, and Buffalo Wild Wings, maybe??!!

My wife says back to business..... baby and mommy are doing fine. Heart Rate is 151 bpm. Jean Anne is getting very bored. She says she is ready to see another ultrasound or feel some movement. I keep telling her it won't be long. Next regular appointment is in 4 weeks and the next and last regular ultrasound is in 61/2 weeks.

Little Potin -13 Week Update

We are 13 weeks today. Jean Anne is showing a little. We will have a new progression picture in a week or so.

How your baby's growing: Your belly may soon be big enough to announce to the world that you're expecting, but your baby is still tiny. In fact, he's/she's only about 3 inches long crown to rump — roughly the size of a jumbo shrimp — and weighs just about an ounce. Despite the small proportions, there's a fully formed baby inside your womb now. Much more proportional than it was a few weeks ago, his/her head is now only about a third the size of his body. His/Her tiny, unique fingerprints are already in place. His/Her kidneys and urinary tract are functional, and he's/she's starting to urinate out the amniotic fluid he's/she's been swallowing. As you start your second trimester, most of your baby's critical development will be completed.

Clearance Rack Maternity Clothes

OK... (this is Jean Anne) I have been really wary about having to soon buy maternity wear! (Having made 13 weeks yesterday, I feel very lucky to still be in my own clothes!) I must brag on myself - in my "old" age, I have become more of a bargain shopper, so... Thursday night Chris and I went to Target and found two pair of maternity pants - each for only $6 each! Pretty great deal if I do say so myself. They will be great to wear to work. The "tummy panel" kinda freaks me out, but it's OK. Maybe it'll still be a couple more weeks before I have to debut them!

Barefoot, Pregnant, and Pulling Weeds

Jean Anne got her exercise this weekend pulling weeds in one of our flower beds. Notice the lack of shoes. Truly barefoot and pregnant. A few plants we intended to save got accidentally pulled but, overall, she did a pretty good job. Lets see if she can do the same bending over in a few months.
